Forthcoming Events 2023
Monthly Coffee Mornings – Everyone’s Welcome!
Join us for our delightful monthly Coffee Mornings, 10.00am to 12.00pm on the first Wednesday of every month. Hot drinks and home baked cakes are available along with a relaxed welcoming atmosphere, giving the residents opportunity to spend quality time with their loved ones and friends. Additionally, we have a tombola, bric-a-brac and a book stall.
In December 2022 we held our Christmas fayre.
This success continued with our Grand Summer Fayre in July 2023 which was very well attended drawing an enthusiastic crowd and was an impressive success. We are looking forward to our traditional Christmas fayre in December. Dates will be displayed on our newsletter, posters, & Facebook page. Every contribution to our fundraising events directly enriches our Residents Fund, enabling us to enhance the range of activities we offer. We cordially invite you to become a part of “The Friends of Old Hastings House.” If you’re interested in volunteering for our events, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Pauline Glenet, our Activity Coordinator, activityteam@oldhastingshouse.co.uk
Activities Mission
We pride ourselves in creating a full packed and inclusive activity planner tailored to everyone’s needs. Our activities are thoughtfully designed to provide emotional, creative, and intellectual fulfilment in alignment with individual preferences. We firmly believe that a sense of purpose aligns with Eudemonic wellbeing (EWB) contributing to a life well-lived, improved sleep quality, longevity, and an overall higher quality of life.
Your purpose is the reason you do or create things. It’s what gets us out of bed in the morning – your raison d’être.
Our dedicated activity team is encouraged to deliver activities with this value appropriate to the person’s needs and preferences.
The activity team:
Activity Leader – Pauline Glenet
Activity Assistant – Elizabeth Segal
Activity Assistant – Helen D Moore
Activity Assistant – Karen Hitchman
Here are some of the activities we offer:
Drum circle, carpet bowls, the Memory Lane mobile trolley, baking, minibus outings, arts & crafts, the scrabble club, poetry gatherings, the gardening club, knit & natter sessions, group discussion, and current affair talks.
Newsletter and magazine
We publish regular newsletters for the residents to keep them updated on activities.

Embark on Virtual Journeys:
Discover the world from the comfort of your armchair through our virtual tours. Our Armchair Travel sessions are meticulously planned day-long events. We recently explored Greece, a journey packed with YouTube tours, quizzes, traditional food tasting, sing-alongs, and a genuine sense of visiting the country.
Currently, we’re preparing for our next adventure as the residents have chosen Norway.
Unwind and Socialise:
Our pub activity offers a unique recreational experience. Relax in a social setting reminiscent of a pub, complete with non-alcoholic cocktails, beverages, music, televised sports, karaoke, and quizzes. This setting offers our residents a distinct social scene to unwind and enjoy. Please see the monthly planners for more information. Although we have a varied and interesting programme of Activities, we are always looking to improve and develop this where possible. Suggestions are invaluable.
